SPRING LAKE, Mich. (WOOD) — A burger spot in Spring Lake has closed.

Beefy’s Burger Shack, located at 909 W Savidge St. off of US-31, closed its doors on May 9, it said in a social media post. The burger spot sold out on its final day open.

“(Tri Cities) we can’t thank you enough for all of your years of continued love and support!! 8 years between Small Town and Beefy’s and what an ABSOLUTE PLEASURE it has been serving you all,” the restaurant shared on Facebook. “Making so many memories and lasting friendships. This isn’t goodbye…but we’ll be seeing ya!”

Beefy’s Burger Shack announced it would be closing at its current location on May 6. The building has gotten old, and Beefy’s Burger Shack said it has dealt with everything from flooding and major plumbing issues to ceiling repairs and multiple motor replacements for its hood system.

It said the building’s owner plans on tearing it down “for a new endeavor.”

The restaurant first opened as the Small Town Sandwich Shop. It shut down due to the pandemic and later reopened as Beefy’s Burger Shack.

Over the years it employed 120 people, sponsored local teams and fundraisers, it said.

“We provide these numbers and insights to show that yes many restaurants close but it doesn’t change the lasting impact the closing of a neighborhood spot has on its local community, staff and owners,” the team wrote, encouraged people to shop small and local.

The restaurant shared that its employees have joined the owners at Finn’s Chophouse or Fig Jam, which is set to open soon in the Epicurean Village on Savidge Street.
