Bill Belichick gets another media gig as eventful summer continues after Patriots split

Bill Belichick may be more busy now than during his NFL coaching career.

The legendary ex-Patriots head coach has added another media gig to his growing list of duties, this time, partnering with Underdog for a series titled “Coach.”

Belichick, 72, said he plans to provide an inside look at how organizations operate and break down schematics in Wednesday’s announcement.

“I partner with Underdog because Underdog is a sports company run by sports people,” Belichick said in the minute-long introduction video. “They want sports to connect to the fans and that’s what I want to do. I want to find a connection to the fans what they’ve asked me for in terms of content — behind-the-scenes information, decision making that goes on within the organization and a breakdown of schematics and personnel within the game. Bring all this real football conversations and decisions to the fans.

“Underdog wants to do that, I want to do that, so it was a great fit. Really looking forward to the opportunity to work with Underdog and their producers. They’ve given me the opportunity to give the fans what they want, and that’s my goal.”

For a man who did not offer much during press conferences unless a reporter had a question about the schematic advantages of a left-footed punter, Belichick is apparently now trying to challenge Pat McAfee for most media appearances per week.

He now has four regular gigs lined up for the 2024 season that includes a weekly spot on McAfee’s self-titled ESPN show, appearances on the “ManningCast” with Eli and Peyton Manning during ESPN’s alternate “Monday Night Football” broadcast and serving as an “Inside the NFL” analyst on the CW Network, according to Adam Schefter.

The surly eight-time Super Bowl winner earned rave reviews earlier this year when he showcased his analyst skills during the 2024 NFL Draft, including a breakdown of Drake Maye before his former franchise selected the ex-North Carolina star with the third pick.

These gigs may just be one-year ventures, though, as Belichick reportedly has his eyes on returning to the sidelines for the 2025 season.

He and the Patriots parted ways in January after 24 seasons at the helm.

This offseason marks Belichick’s first without a coaching gig since he joined the Baltimore Colts as a special assistant in 1975, and he’s passing the time with 23-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson.

The two recently vacationed in Nantucket right as training camps opened across the league.
