BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — A Battle Creek man who had more than 4 kilograms of meth will spend years in prison, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Michigan says.
Travon Deshaun-Roderick Mansker, 26, was sentenced to 10 years in prison, according to a Wednesday release from the attorney’s office.
He pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, according to court documents. As part of the plea agreement, other charges were dismissed, the documents show.
“We choose our cases carefully, focusing the longer sentences we often secure on those who pose the greatest threat,” said U.S. Attorney Mark Totten in a statement. “Travon Mansker is one of those people. He was a large-scale pill dealer selling methamphetamine masked as Adderall. And he was trafficking illegal firearms calibrated to cause maximum harm.”
When investigators searched his Battle Creek home in April 2023, they found more than 4 kilograms of orange powder meth, drug paraphernalia, 14 guns — including two that had been modified into machine guns and five “ghost guns,” which are designed so that police cannot trace them — and hundreds of rounds of ammunition, the release says. Investigators found the guns throughout his home, including one rifle in a baby’s bassinet, according to court documents.
Mansker was arrested in May 2023.
