Idina Menzel Confesses To Andy Cohen On ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’ About The Time She “Peed” Onstage: “It Was In ‘Wicked’”

News Goon

Idina Menzel revealed that she may have let it flow once during a live stage performance.

Guest host Andy Cohen led Monday’s episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, where he elicited a hilarious confession from the seasoned Broadway star.

Shania Twain told me on Watch What Happens Live once that she has peed herself onstage,” Cohen said. “Have you ever peed onstage?”

“Now that I’ve had a child, and because I have to drink a lot of water because I’m a singer, I have laughed at something that’s happened onstage let’s say that doesn’t usually, and yes, I have peed,” the Redwood star admitted.

While Cohen grabbed Menzel’s hand and told her that they “support” her, she shared more details on her onstage accident, revealing that “it was in Wicked.”

“I was wearing the huge second act gown and nobody could tell and I had tights on, so it just kind of sponged it up,” she added.

As the audience applauded Menzel’s admission, Cohen chimed in, “You know what, this is a truth circle.”

Menzel teased, “Don’t tell anyone!”

Menzel, who originated the role of Elphaba in Wicked on Broadway, made a cameo alongside the original Glinda, Kristin Chenoweth, in Part 1 of Jon M. Chu‘s film adaptation. At the start of her chat with Cohen, Menzel was asked if it was true that she and Chenoweth “wanted to swap parts at one time.”

“It’s just an idea we have if there was a gala and we could raise money for some great charity… we thought we could switch roles,” she explained.

Menzel claimed that “it’s a little harder” for her to hit the soprano, though she noted Chenoweth’s voice is “much more versatile.”

“She has all these parts of her voice. She could belt out ‘Defying Gravity,’” she said of Chenoweth, before proceeding to raise her voice to a ‘Popular’-like tone. “I don’t know if I could do the other song.”

However, Menzel said she is “willing to make a fool of [her]self in order to raise the money.”

Cohen praised the idea as “brilliant,” telling Menzel he “would pay so much money to see that.”

Menzel joked, “I know, but I don’t know if she wants to put the green makeup on, though.”
