Page Six hosted a happy hour on the beach with NFL star Brandon Marshall at the Cannes Lions festival on Tuesday evening.
During the VIP event, the record-breaking wide receiver — who now heads media platform I Am Athlete and wellness hub House of Athlete — spoke with PageSix.com chief reporter Francesca Bacardi and Page Six deputy editor Oli Coleman in wide-ranging chat about the future of sports and entertainment media in front of figures from the worlds of publishing, public relations, sports and advertising.
Marshall — who played for the Miami Dolphins, the Denver Broncos, the New York Jets and the Giants, among other teams — spoke about his dreams for the next phase of his career.
“I want I Am Athlete to be that agency that all the brands go to and say, ‘When we want to do programming or create content with an athlete, we go through I Am Athlete,” he said, “‘They do it right. They get it and they have the infrastructure to get it and do it and scale it.’”
But he said that its vital for new media operations to cooperate with and learn from legacy media.
Among those present for the event at Stagwell’s Sports Beach on the famed Cannes Croisette included New York Post CEO Sean Giancola and Susan Magrino of the Magrino Agency.
