Consumers reminded customers to stay away from downed wires and call 911 immediately, then the utility.

The Jackson-based utility company said some 160,000 customers statewide lost power as a result of the storms.

Consumers Energy says hundreds of crews are working around the clock to restore power to affected customers.

However, some customers may not have power back for days.

Traffic signals across West Michigan were impacted by the power outages, including on the southeast side of Grand Rapids. Drivers are reminded to treat nonfunctioning traffic signals like four-way stops.
